I decided to leave this page on my web site because it is linked to many other teacher's websites.
When I taught first grade, MOOSE books were used in my classroom as a teacher-parent communication tool.
Now that I'm in kindergarten, we use BEAR books.

MOOSE BOOKS
MOOSE=M
anagement Of Organizational Skills Everyday
A MOOSE book is a 3-ring binder notebook that holds everything the students
and parents need to keep updated on classroom and school events!
No  more lost notes, lost homework, lost important school notes or missing
 lunch/book club money!
No more looking all over the house to find paper to write the teacher a note!
EVERYTHING a student and parent needs is in one notebook!
Why is it important to have?
This notebook helps students to establish good organizational skills
as well as teach them responsibility.
The children really enjoy using the MOOSE books. It is a wonderful way to keep
communication open between the teacher and parents.

I  had some very positive comments from my students' parents, colleagues,
my principal, assistant principal and our school district elementary coordinator!

I promise, once you use the MOOSE books, you will want to use
them year after year!!!

The materials needed for the notebooks are:
~1 inch notebook (*Staples has good quality notebooks in bundles of 3)
~Five different colors of paper for section dividers
~Clear, plastic sleeves
~Brown double-pocket folders (1 per child)
~Labels-I used the 2x4 size shipping labels.
~Notebook paper (for parent notes)
~Pencil Pouch

The following table is an excerpt from a letter I gave to the parents
explaining the contents of the Moose books.
