Our kindergarten class uses B.E.A.R. Notebooks which stands for Bring Everything Always Ready.

A BEAR book is a 3-ring binder notebook that holds everything the students
and parents need to keep updated on classroom and school events! No  more lost notes,
lost homework, lost important school notes or missing lunch/book club money!
No more looking all over the house to find paper to write the teacher a note!
EVERYTHING a student and parent needs is in one notebook!
Why is it important to have?
This notebook helps students to establish good organizational skills as well as teach them responsibility.

The materials needed for the notebooks are:
~1 inch notebook (Available at Sam's Club, Wal-Mart, and
one year I purchased good quality notebooks in bundles of 3 at Staples)
~Five different colors of paper for section dividers
~Clear, plastic sleeves
~Avery double-pocket folders (1 per child)
~Labels-I used the Avery 2x4 size mailing labels.(10 per sheet)
~Notebook paper (for parent notes)
~Pencil Pouch

The following table is an excerpt from a letter I will give to the parents
explaining the contents of the BEAR books.

BEAR BOOK RULES

Please take very good care of your BEAR book. It will be used all year.

Clean out the "super-duper papers to keep" every evening.

Take your BEAR home every day and bring it with you to school
in the morning. After your homework is done, just put it back in your backpack
so you won't forget it!

Keep your BEAR book clean. Please do not eat or drink while using it.

Each day, show your BEAR books to your parents.
They will be so proud that you are learning responsibility!

Please do not:

Make any marks or drawings in your BEAR.

Leave your BEAR at home, daycare, in the bus or car. You are responsible for bringing it to school everyday.

Let anyone borrow your BEAR or tear any pages out of it. Everything should stay in your book.

Put any papers in your BEAR that don't belong.

Please email me if you have any questions.
